Seeing the World One Day at a Time!

Well, I have been here a couple of days and a lot has happened! The first day, a tired Julia picked me up from the airport in Munich and it was really hot outside.  After flying for so long I always feel really gross…eww…anyway….we when into Munich and parked at the football (soccer) stadium and took the train into the center of the city…we came up right by the famous glockenspiel…which we missed because after meeting our froiends we went right for bier and weiss wurst at the famous hofbrauhaus, which was amazing.  Unofrtunently at the time what I didn’t realize was that over the course of a few more days I would soon discover that Ice’s grad school friends from Germany were actually alcoholics…ok..sort of kidding but not..After that we went to the top of the bell tower in the town square and got an amazing view of the whole city.  As we were coming down the bells chimed 6 o’clock and Julia and I looked through a window to see the bells next to us ringing and remember these are HUGE bells.  the whole tower shook.. it was the experience that happens only once and awhile!  We drove home to Salzburg through Bayern and saw the hills turn into mountians and beautiful Salzburg! We were extremely hungary and I was very tired so on a quest to find food we ended up at…oh…yes…bad expensive chinese…I came 1200 miles to eat chinese worse the the village wok. Oh well.  The second day was much less exciting.  We sat outside pretty much the whole afternoon at Katrins Cafe (she works there) and the guys proceeded to drink a lot of bier…me on the otherhand had ice cream and coffee..big surprise! It downpoured so we moved from the outside Cafe indoors and drank more bier…After this we met with Julia and her boyfriend and went to Steigel, the local brewery\ tourist trap but I did have the best weiner snitzel EVER!  And…GASP….more Bier… by this time I have no idea how much they drank, but they weren’t drunk.  So, we went to an irish pub…more bier…and then a dance\bar…more bier and I proceeded to convince Julia to dance…and we were sober!  We headed home at 3 am, only a few blocks with some smelly boys..oh joy.  I was finally figuring out these boys.  The next day we saw a 1000 year old castle on the hill in Salzburg and more bier..and getting lost and going to a gas station for…more bier…(still not drunk) for the party in the alpen cabin that night.  The best part is next. I went to the Germany vs Argentina game in the city center with a giant jumbo tron, it was totally awesome! I got a German Jersey…had my first bier (the boys were on like 5 by then) and watched Germany win with hundreds of other fans!!! Amazing!!! Then we went to Julias friend´s cabin and met all of her friends…and the boys kept drinking.  It was fun at first…but then people kept drinking and I was reminded of being a CA…annoying drunk people, even Julia was annoyed as we were both sober.  The best was when I went outside to use the bathroom, I sank into a bog 1.5 feet deep and was covered with mud at 3 in the morning! AHHH… Julia helped me out and cleaned me off without running water…grrr…I was cranky and wanted to go home, or at least to a real bed.  I tried to sleep upstairs, but then the drunk people went to bed… I mean were loud….so I went downstairs (after the party had went to bed…ther were partying there) and slept.  We went to McDonalds…hmmm…in Europe, and I was so tired I called the 1€ menu the dollar menu…really people…but the best part of the day was to come (even though the boys were STILL drinking!!!!! I want to say NOT ice…just his friends) This drinking was added to by the constant chain smoking and visiting to the cigarette vending machines….Today we went into the alps and walked to the top of a hillside by Julia´s hometown and ate traditional austrian food…and TOOK a shower…and  we let the drinking boys off at the train station! Don´t get me wrong, they were nice…but you get the picture…I needed a break from the chain smoking and drinking!  Well, I am going out for a nice WAlk now, sad that france just won the semi final…..

If I sent you here to read about what happened, it's the previous blog.

Reflection on the first week homeless:  I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.  Spiritually, I don't know what is up, but I am excited to see.  God has really blessed me though the last week.  From little things to big things, I feel like God really has control of the rest of the semester…. now if I could just get that homework done!!!!

The best way to describe what is happening is, "It's hard to put into words all the different spiritual places the Lord is bringing me into."

On top of all that, I do have a place to live, which is amazing, and I may graduate in Dec?! So, the whole European dream is staring me in the face, which is daunting and yet exciting at the same time. I really feel called to missions, so I just have to trust God and the plans he has in front of me, and the visions he has put on my heart, and the intuitions I have had about things.  We will see what happens this summer, and next year.  I definatnely have had my wrestling moments with God about a few things ;)

Let me start at the beginning:In January, I was in a friend’s room.  She lived on a different floor.  The chat was going fine with her until she opened up her closet and there was a bottle of Smirnoff.  I felt really bad for her, so I decided not to write her up, I just told her to get rid of it.  A few weeks later, I couldn’t go to sleep.  I knew the decision I had made was completely wrong, so I told the friend that I would have to write her up, two weeks later.  She was so gracious and completely apologized.  So, the next day I told Jill.  In reality, no one would have EVER found out.  Ever. Well, unknown to all of you, I almost lost my job.  I credit my being here completely to God, and the people praying that I didn’t get fired.  So, I go on probationLast week-Also unknown to you guys, half the staff had been cutting corners on rounds.  You know those great things we do to keep you in line?? Pretty much what happened is we split up the building so one person does one half and the other does the other half, which is not really the way you are supposed to do it.  Well, because I was already on probation… So, central housing decided to give me the boot.  But, that’s not the end.  I know some of you guys know that I am a Christian.  And you very well know I could have gotten away with some stuff and no one would have ever found out.  I guess the point I am making is there ARE consequences for our mistakes, and that even people who you think in general are ok people -do make them, we all make them.  We aren’t perfect, and deep down everyone has a conscious, no matter what you believe.  What makes us just know… even when we are a little kid, what is right and wrong, even in secret?  I believe we didn’t just happen to show up on this earth by accident, because if we did, what would give us a right and a wrong, I mean if we were living for nothing then why not harm others and break rules????… Nothing is there to keep us accountable?  But, we do know what is right and wrong, even without people telling us.  It makes sense that there is a God, and it makes sense that he would send someone like Jesus to save us.  We aren’t perfect, of least me, as everyone on campus visibly sees by me getting the boot.  But it’s ok, ‘cuz it cements my reason for Jesus: I’m not perfect I need to be forgiven and accept Jesus and the power of his death in my life, cuz he did die for my sins.  I know some of you have heard it on a movie, TV, whatev…but it’s a powerful message.  People get up in arms about Jesus.  Ever watch a debate about religion?  It always squares down to Jesus.  For God did not send His Son into the world that He might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. John 3:17.  Saved from what? Isn’t that like a movie we have with Mandy Moore?  Saved from ourselves.  Saved from hate, saved from our own sins and mistakes…It’s not a message of condemnation, it’s a message of Love.  Everyone makes bad decisions every day! It’s realizing that your aren’t perfect, and accepting that you need God, you need Jesus in your life, and committing that life to him.

I was inspired ny D. Konold's website.  I looked at it and wondered what powered it because dang! it looked a lot better than mine AND he had tons of cool pictures.  So, the entire purpose of this website it not to reveal all of my inner most thoughts on life, but rather inspiring tidbits to the masses about my walk with Jesus.

This week has been an interesting deal.  Do you beileve in the power of prayer?  Well, God has been proving himself again and again in my life.  For starters: this week at church a freshman got healed f a 2 inch tumor… SAY wHaT?  Yeah, you heard me correctly.  Pastor Peter has been teaching that the miracles and power of God is for TODAY, not back in the day only.  So, God being cool and all, we got a chnce to see it first hand.  This freshman came up and told the story about how she went to the doctor and they found a lump in here breast= pretty scary, especially since her family has a high history of breast cancer.  She was pretty shook up.  So her friends got together and prayed for her.  She also called the Pastor and his posse and they prayed for he too! And… she went to the doctor again and the lump DISSAPEARED!!

Prayer: Part 2  To come…
